PARLEYS CANYON, Utah — A semi truck caught fire as it was coming down Parley's Canyon late Wednesday night.
It happened right before 11 p-m after the semi's brakes overheated.
The fire ignited and then spread to the trailer of the semi, which was hauling a full load of plastic bags.
"And the tires were going too," said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mercadez Barrett. "Fortunately it went into the side of the mountain instead of into live traffic."
The driver won't be cited for the incident.
Sgt. Barrett said to prevent this type of fire, truck drivers should brake as often as needed but not excessively.
