LOGAN, Utah — An accident in Logan Canyon Monday afternoon put one driver in critical condition and a semitrailer into the river.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a northbound car went partially into the southbound lane, colliding with an oncoming semi hauling a tanker trailer, which then went off to the right side of the road (opposite of the river) then across the lanes into the river on its side.
The driver of the car was transported to the hospital in critical condition. UHP officials say it appeared that seatbelts were used and airbags were deployed. The driver of the semi was transported with minor injuries.
U.S. 89 through the canyon was closed temporarily.
