RIVERTON, Utah — Josh, his wife Thamy, and her daughter were seen coming down an escalator at the Salt Lake City International Airport Monday, after being released from Venezuela.

They were greeted by a crowd filled with family members, politicians, and friends, who sang the National Anthem together.

"Today we`re not going to take any questions, as you guys all know it's been very very long three or four, I'm not sure how many days it's been," Holt said at the airport. "We've gotten maybe four hours of sleep in four days, but I just wanted to publicly say thank you to all the people here."

Riverton residents and the friends and family of Josh Holt attended two events to welcome Josh and his wife on Monday evening.

The Holts were expected to arrive at Salt Lake City International Airport at 7:19 p.m., where they were met with a large group of people, including Congresswoman Mia Love (R-UT).

A second welcoming event happened at Riverton's Old Dome Meeting Hall at 8:30.

There the community of Riverton gathered together, displaying banners and cheering as the family arrived.

Josh Holt traveled to Venezuela, where he married his fiancee, Thamy, in 2016. Shortly after the wedding, Venezuelan authorities arrested Josh and Thamy, accusing them of possessing assault weapons.

Josh, Thamy, Josh's family and the politicians involved in freeing the couple have all maintained that the accusation was false.

Members of the community have been tying green ribbons on trees and light posts along 12600 S in anticipation of the Holts' arrival.
