SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Library Board has voted to eliminate overdue book fees Tuesday.

The fines for late books will end July 1.

Library staff said the move will keep people coming back instead of scaring them with fines.

The board is asking for a property tax hike to pay for expansion and other services.
