Two teens dead, three others critically injured in crash near Moab

MOAB, Utah — The San Juan County Sheriff's Office has released new information about a crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers and left three others in critical condition Sunday morning.

According to a news release, the five teenagers were in a 2003 Subaru Impreza on Lasal Loop Road, just south of Ken's Lake, when the driver lost control of the vehicle some time before 7:30 a.m.

The Impreza rolled several times, ejecting 14-year-old Taylor Bryant, 16-year-old Connor Denney and another teen The other two occupants, a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old, were not thrown from the vehicle.

Bryant and Denney were both pronounced dead at the scene. The other three teens were critically injured and taken by helicopter to hospitals "outside the area," the news release said.

According to the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
