SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — Saratoga Springs police said a man in a stolen car drove past the gas station where he found the vehicle, then led officers on a chase.
The incident started around midnight Tuesday morning when two men stopped at a Top Stop gas station to buy drinks. Police said the men left the vehicle running when they went inside, and the car was gone when they returned to the parking lot.
An officer responded to the scene so the men could file a report, and that was when police said the auto theft suspect drove by the Top Stop.
Police pursued the stolen vehicle, which they said sustained some damage during the chase, and they used a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a halt.
Police said the suspect, 29-year-old Carson Clevelend, was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and cocaine.
Cleveland was taken to American Fork Hospital for evaluation and he’ll be booked into the Utah County Jail after the evaluation is complete.
