SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah Utes will travel to California to face Indiana on December 28 in the Foster Farms Bowl.
The bowl selection was announced Sunday along with the college playoff picture for this season. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MT and will air right here on Fox 13.
“The Foster Farms Bowl in Santa Clara is a great destination for our players and our fans,” Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham stated in a press release. “This will be our second trip to the Bay Area in the postseason, after playing there in 2005, and we are looking forward to going back. We’re excited to be playing Indiana as we rarely get the opportunity to play teams out of the Big Ten.”
The Utes finished the regular season outside the AP Poll's Top 25, but they held on at No. 23 in the Coaches Poll.
Utah went 8-4 overall and 5-4 in conference, putting them in third place in the Pac-12 South behind Colorado and USC.
“It’s been an exciting season and this is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to enjoy the bowl experience,” stated Chris Hill, Utah Director of Athletics. "This is a great destination, not only for our local fans, but also for our many alumni in the Bay Area. It will be fun for all of us to play a Big Ten school.”
Indiana wrapped up the regular season with 6-6 record overall, 4-5 in conference, putting them in fourth place in the Big Ten East.
