ROY, Utah — An 83-year-old man who is a registered sex offender was charged Friday with four felony counts after he allegedly admitted to molesting several young girls in his neighborhood.
According to charging documents, Dean Eldon Jones faces four counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child as first-degree felonies.
Police state that a child told her parents on November 1 that Jones had allegedly touched her inappropriately while in the basement of his home on several occasions during the last year.
Jones was interviewed by police on Wednesday, and he allegedly admitted to touching the victim as well as to molesting several other young girls in the same neighborhood. The man made similar admissions the following day after being read his Miranda rights, the charging document states.
Dean was previously convicted on federal charges for several sex offenses involving children, and prior to these new charges he was listed as, “currently in compliance on the sex offender registry.”
