PROVO, Utah – Provo Mayor John Curtis just announced he will not seek re-election.
Mayor Curtis has been in office since 2010.
He says in the video announcement, after a year of deliberation, he has decided it is time to go.
Curtis says he doesn’t know what he will do next but he plans on “it being big, fun and exciting.”
He says others have asked if he will run for another political office, to which he says he hasn’t given it much thought.
However, he says no one should be surprised if he shows up again in the political arena.
A strong belief that a big problem with our political system is politicians “over-staying” also helped him make this decision.
