WASHINGTON — Bill Murray, wearing Cubs gear head to toe, made a surprise visit to the White House press briefing room Friday afternoon.

Known for his unexpected guest appearances, the comic legend crashed the press conference and fielded questions from reporters.

“I feel very confident that Clayton Kershaw is a great, great pitcher, but we got too many sticks, we got too many sticks,” Murray said. “At home, our crowd, the weather. We get a little bit of autumn in Chicago, you don’t get that in Los Angeles. Trees just die in Los Angeles. In Illinois they flourish.”

He even joked that the press needs ice luges instead of coffee machines.

Murray is in Washington D.C. to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The former Saturday Night Live star will accept the award on Sunday, but he arrived early to meet with the president.
