OGDEN, Utah — A man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert Monday, has been formally charged.
A court document filed Wednesday shows Weston Ray Kubbe, 37, has been charged with four felonies in connection with the case. Kubbe has been charged with two counts of child kidnapping, a first-degree felony, one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, and enticing a minor, a second-degree felony.
South Ogden police issued the Amber Alert shortly after 2:30 Monday afternoon, and the boy was located about two hours later at a Best Buy store in Murray. Police located Kubbe at his home, a few blocks away from the store. FOX 13 News reported the boy’s name and showed his picture when the Amber Alert was active. Since its cancellation, and given the nature of the alleged crimes, we have chosen not to continue to name the boy.
