SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – A broken water pipe is to blame for a sink hole that closed streets in South Jordan Thursday.
Officials said the pipe leaked water for about two hours, causing soil under the roadway to erode and the road to collapse at about 5:30 a.m.
Authorities said the hole appeared near 4255 W. South Jordan Parkway.
South Jordan Parkway is limited to one lane in both directions and Vermillion Dr. is closed.
City officials said they expect all lanes to reopen Thursday evening.
