FDA bans some antibacterial chemicals in soap
If you use antibacterial soap, your habits are about to change thanks to the Food and Drug Administration.
The FDA has issued a final rule that throws water on those claims.
“We have no scientific evidence that they are any better than plain soap,” the FDA said it a statement.
The new rule also bans antibacterial soaps and body washes that contain certain active ingredients from being marketed.
The banned ingredients were not proven to be safe and effective for long-term daily use.
