1. Stop saying, "Things will be better when..." (They are in school all day, when they can drive, when they graduate).
2. Stop saying, "You should know better..." (Turns out they really may not, and this statement leads to feeling like they've disappointed their parents too young)
3. Stop saying, "Hurry up..." (One day, you'll realize you hurried your kids through their childhood.)
4. Start (and keep) saying, "I love you..." and tell them why, even when they are little, so they'll hear it when they're big.
