DAVIS COUNTY, Utah – The family of a Fruit Heights teen who was killed in a car crash last month received a new vehicle Wednesday.
Sofia Vasquez, 17, was killed when her family’s SUV rolled on I-15 near Holden.
The family’s suburban was also totaled in the crash. When the Murdoch Auto Team heard about what happened, they teamed up with New Car Dealers of Utah to provide the Vasquez family with a new Chevy Tahoe.
Sofia’s parents said they were humbled by the support from their community.
“It’s very humbling,” Lucy Vasquez said. “More than anything, you would like to not be in this position, you would like to still have your daughter here with you. But it reminds you of the goodness of people, and how generous they can be.”
Sofia’s parents say this donation has given them more time to cope with her death and focus on caring for their other children.
