Utah woman dies after falling 60 feet in Maple Canyon

SANPETE COUNTY, Utah — A woman suffered fatal injuries in a fall in Maple Canyon Saturday.

The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as 62-year-old Melissa Raue of Holladay.

Raue was rock climbing in the canyon with her husband and a close friend when she unexpectedly fell about 60 feet and landed on some rocks below.

Sanpete County Search and Rescue was dispatched to investigate the accident and assist in recovery efforts. Raue was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
