WEST JORDAN, Utah — A woman was killed and another woman was taken to a hospital Friday after a crash on Redwood Road in West Jordan, and the collision occurred after one vehicle made a U-turn.

West Jordan Police said a car and pickup truck were heading north on Redwood Road near 6700 South around 2 p.m. when the crash occurred.

“The green passenger car was a little bit ahead of the truck, and went to make a U-turn and was about halfway through the turn when it was T-boned by the truck, and the driver of the car suffered fatal injuries because of the crash,” Officer Scott List said. “The driver of the truck was taken to IMC in stable condition.”

The deceased is so far only identified as a 31-year-old woman from Millcreek. The other driver suffered minor injuries.

List said when fatal crashes occur near holidays, it often creates painful memories for loved ones in the years to come.

“This is certainly not the way we want to start the holiday weekend, this is a horrible reminder for the people involved that a loved one passed away on this weekend, this is not what we want,” he said.

Redwood Road was closed from 6200 South to 7200 South as crews investigated, but the road reopened later Friday night.
