PAGE, Ariz. — Two people were severely burned after three houseboats at a dry storage maintenance facility caught fire just outside the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
The fire occurred Monday morning at Offshore Marina near Bullfrog Marina at Lake Powell, according to a press release from Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The National Park Service was dispatched at 11:45 a.m. to put out the blaze.
Two victims were treated on scene for burns then flown by Classic Air Medical to Salt Lake City for further treatment.
“I’m proud of our firefighters and Classic Air Medical for their quick response,” Billy Shott, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Superintendent stated in the release. “Partnerships between our emergency responders and the medical evacuation crews in the area make it possible to provide lifesaving response in this remote part of the country.”
Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
