SALT LAKE CITY -- Plan accordingly as the Utah Department of Transportation has scheduled three roadway projects for the evening of Friday, June 17.
S.R. 201
The S.R. 201 freeway in both directions at I-215 will be closed overnight on Friday beginning at 9 p.m. according to a press release sent to FOX 13.
Crews will begin one of several phases to demolish the existing I-215 northbound bridge over S.R. 201.
UDOT is encouraging drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes, such as I-80. Traffic is scheduled to shift to new temporary bridges and then onto new permanent bridges by next year.
Friday evening's work is part of the I-215 reconstruction project that will repave the freeway between S.R. 201 and 4700 South and create new exit-only lanes in both directions. All lanes on S.R. 201 are scheduled to reopen by Saturday, June 18 at 6 a.m.
Northbound I-15 to westbound I-215, Murray
Drivers should also plan for a freeway ramp closure northbound I-15 to westbound I-215 in Murray from Friday, June 17, at 10 p.m. to Saturday, June 18, at 6 a.m. UDOT recommends using I-15 to I-80 as an alternate route to the Salt Lake City International Airport.
I-80, Salt Lake City
Westbound I-80 in Salt Lake City will be reduced to one lane near the 700 East exit for pavement repairs. This project is scheduled to begin as early as 9 p.m.
During the repairs the westbound freeway ramps at 700 East are scheduled to be closed intermittently. All westbound lanes on I-80 are scheduled to reopen by Saturday, June 18, at 9 a.m.
