SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Utah Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on I-80 Friday after witnesses reported someone was driving erratically.

According to UHP, the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of I-80 near mile marker 173, which is in the area of Coalville.

Witnesses reported a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse was driving erratically prior to crashing. The car went off the roadway to the left, where it rolled over and appears to have come to rest on its roof.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was ejected through a back window, and he suffered fatal injuries. He was identified as 37-year-old Nicholas P. Accordino.

The crash marks the 19th traffic-related death in the last 11 days, and the Utah Department of Transportation refers to this time of the year as the “100 Deadliest Days” on Utah roadways. They are urging drivers to use caution and buckle up.
