REXBURG, Idaho — It was one of the more “hare-y” entries on the crime log this week.

On Wednesday, Rexburg Police officers responded to a women’s apartment complex for a report that a dead rabbit was hanging on a wall.

When officers arrived at NorthPoint Apartments they discovered a painting had been stolen and in its place was a bag holding a dead rabbit and a threatening note.

Police investigated and were able to identify four male Brigham Young University-Idaho students who entered the apartment without permission. The suspects were later located and told police that they were simply pulling a prank.

The crime log shows the males were given a warning about unlawful entry, petty theft and burglary. No arrest were made or charges filed.

“Apparently they shot this rabbit, put it in a bag and hung it on a wall after removing a painting,” Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis told EastIdahoNews.com. “We gave them a stern talking to, I don’t anticipate any future problems with these boys. ”
