RIVERTON, Utah – A suspect in a bank robbery in Riverton is facing charges that include threat of terrorism after the man allegedly claimed he had a bomb.

Douglas Kay McEwan, 61, faces one count of aggravated robbery as a first-degree felony and one count of threat of terrorism as a second-degree felony in connection with Monday’s robbery.

McEwan allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Riverton, where he told employees he had a handgun and a bomb.

Police arrested the man outside the bank Monday, and a bomb squad was dispatched to the scene. The bomb squad eventually determined the device McEwan had was a fake and not an explosive.

McEwan is in the Salt Lake County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
