DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah – The U.S. Geological Survey has confirmed a magnitude 4.1 earthquake about 25 miles northwest of Duchesne Wednesday morning.

Officials said the quake hit at 7 a.m.; no damage has been reported.

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reported the light earthquake with the epicenter in the southern Uinta Mountains, 8 miles northeast of Hanna, Utah, and 26 miles northwest of Duchesne, Utah.

Utah officials said seven earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 miles of the epicenter of this event since 1962.

The largest of these events was a magnitude 4.5 on September 30, 1977, 21 miles northwest of Duchesne.
