UTAH COUNTY — Utah County Sheriff’s Office personnel confirmed Friday night that a body found near State Route 6 is believed to be that of missing Millard County woman Stacy Jo Morrill.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon stated Friday around 6:30 p.m. that a body found near State Route 6 in Utah County is believed to be Morrill, though the investigation is ongoing.

According to a press release issued later Friday, deputies were called to the area just before 3 p.m. after family members of Morrill found her deceased near SR-6 and Dividend Road a few miles east of Eureka.

Morrill, 52 of Oasis, was reported missing earlier in the week after her Jeep was found abandoned along Dividend road in southwest Utah County.

Cannon said the scene where Morrill was found is being investigated.

According to the press release, “While there was no immediate indication that Morrill was a victim of violent assault, there was no other information or evidence that indicated how she might have died. Her body was found in area of rugged terrain covered with ravines, Juniper trees, and Sage Brush.”

Search and rescue personnel assisted in the recovery of the body. The press release stated that prior to the discovery, police and volunteers spent hours searching the area by ground and with the assistance of aircraft as well as K9 units.

A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
