PLEASANT GROVE, Utah - A 35-year-old woman is dead after police say she crashed her SUV into a tree while running from a repo agent trying to repossess her Lincoln Navigator, early Tuesday morning.

Police and medical personnel responded to the crash scene just after midnight near 700 N. and 100 E. by Pleasant Grove Jr. High. Ashleigh Best had to be extricated from the vehicle.

A medical helicopter was called to the area but Best soon died at the scene.

The man accused of chasing her is tow truck driver Kenneth Drew. Pleasant Grove police officers say Drew came to Best's home to take her SUV. She argued with him, jumped into the vehicle and sped off.

At that point, Drew got into his vehicle and pursued her across town, according to a Facebook post by Pleasant Grove police. Speeds reached 70 mph on a 35 mph road.

Evidence at the scene and information from witnesses suggest the tow truck made contact with the SUV, causing Best to leave the roadway, cross a sidewalk and hit the tree, the Facebook post indicates.

Drew was taken into custody and booked into Utah County Jail on manslaughter.

The investigation is still ongoing.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Best's family pay for funeral costs.
