Personal injury attorney's Ken Christensen and Russ Hymas from Christensen and Hymas represent injured cyclists.

As cycling becomes more popular it is important to educate each other about how to give some tips to help prevent hitting cyclists.

Three things to know when cyclist are on the road:

  1. Give cyclist three feet - if passing a cyclist there needs to be three feet to the side of the cyclist to pass safely.
  2. Cyclist can use the whole lane - The law allows this because there could be dangerous conditions on the side.
  3. Don't drive distracted - losing the distractions help create a safer environment for riders and all motorists.

These tips highlight the responsibilities of both cyclists and motorists. This is part of the reason Christensen and Hymas wrote the Utah Bicycle Hand Book. In the book you will find in detail about the Utah Laws, insurance and when it is applicable.
