MILLCREEK, Utah — A suspect in the fatal shooting of Unified Police K-9 Officer Aldo died Monday evening.

On Wednesday, Unified Police responded to a Millcreek home to serve a warrant on David Shane Anderson. The K-9 went into the home first and was shot by the suspect, police say.

Authorities used tear gas to try to flush out Anderson, and then were forced to go into the house again to find him, who was hiding in a closet.

Anderson had suffered gunshot wounds, but it isn’t clear where they came from.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
