LAKE POWELL — Three public safety dive teams were dispatched to Lake Powell to help find a man who fell overboard a few days ago.

On Thursday at about 7 p.m., authorities received a report that the 25-year-old man fell overboard in an area outside of Wahweap Marina and didn’t resurface, according to a press release from the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Initial search efforts were conducted by the National Park Service, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Classic Life Guard Aviation. Efforts continued into the night and into Saturday with temporary interruptions due to hazardous weather conditions, the release states.

With water depths averaging 127 feet in the search area, dive teams with the Utah Department of Public Safety and Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office joined the search effort.

The National Parks Service Dive team is also involved in the search.

The dive teams have spent Sunday monitoring sonar readings.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State Parks and the National Parks Service.
