KEARNS, Utah – 2 people were taken to hospital Tuesday morning after a head-on collision took place at 5413 W. and 5415 S. in Kearns.

Officers say that a man veered off the roadway left for some reason, causing his Cadillac to hit a 35-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet car head-on.

Det. Jared Richardson at Unified Police Department said, “5415 South is a busy road since it’s one of the main roads that go from the east side to the west side, so it’s just like any other road, there’s a lot of traffic going on it because it’s a main thoroughfare.”

The man driving the Cadillac was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in serious condition. The woman went to the hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to fair condition.

The male driver needed to be cut out of the vehicle by Unified Fire Authority which took about 30 minutes.

Authorities have not said what caused the man to veer out of his lane.
