SALT LAKE CITY -- Two people are in serious condition after a two-alarm house forced 10 residents and six dogs from a Salt Lake City home early Saturday morning.

Fire crews responded to the scene at about 3:52 a.m. at 865 W. 800 South. The fire caused severe damage to the outside of the house, as well as the front room and kitchen areas, according to a press release from Salt Lake City fire.

Fire officials say 10 adults were living in the house and shed behind the home.

Three adults were taken to an area hospital after suffering smoke inhalation and second-degree burns, the release states. Two of the patients were transported in serious condition and the other in fair condition.

The Utah Red Cross is assisting those who have been displaced.

Thirty firefighters responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
