SALT LAKE CITY — A man is now in surgery after he was stabbed 7 to 8 times according to Lt. Dave Cracroft at Salt Lake City Police.

It happened at 1332 S. State Street in front of a business just before 1:30 Thursday morning.

Police say the man got in a fight with four black men, all of which were wearing red. After the suspects left him for dead, witnesses found the victim and called Salt Lake City Police.

Police do not believe this was a random stabbing and think it is gang related. They are waiting on the man to get out of surgery before asking him any questions.

How come you don’t write “A White Man is now in surgery?” You write four black men stabbed him?

The color of the suspects comes in really handy in identifying the men they are looking for. If the suspects had been white the article would have said so. Is the color of the victim critical to this story? Hummmmm?

They usually describe the suspects, not the victim until they are identified. He may be white, Mexican, asian, ect. It doesn’t really matter what race he is.

Maybe because that’s the description of the suspects..makes since yeah? Really this at least on one side wasnt about race…let’s not make it worse by pulling a race card

I truly was not being racist. I understand now that it was needed to describe the suspects. I jumped the gun and was looking at the statement describing the suspects as black and I felt that was racist. My apologies.

Laurel, they always describe the suspects by race, and in no way is it meant to be racist. They are suspects waiting to be identified.
