Woman escapes through window to call WVC PD after acquaintance stabs her

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- A woman in West Valley City was stabbed twice early Saturday morning, and she told police an acquaintance forced his way into her room and assaulted her after a social gathering.

According to the West Valley City Police Department, officers were called just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday to respond to the area of 3200 South and 4000 West after a woman ran to a neighbor's residence for help.

The woman was taken to a hospital with two stab wounds, and her injuries are described as not being life-threatening. Police responding to the area found signs of a struggle, including bloody hand prints on a wall.

Lt. Julie Jorgensen, West Valley City PD, said the victim said she had invited several acquaintances over to her home for a get together and that the suspect was among them. After the gathering wound down, the woman went to bed.

The man then allegedly forced his way into her room, assaulted her then stabbed her. The woman escaped by crawling through a back window, and she then ran to a neighbor's home to call for help.

Police have not yet identified the suspect or provided a description. Jorgensen said they believe this was an isolated incident, and they do not believe there is a greater threat to the public.
