NEW YORK – A Yelp customer service employee said she was fired after she made a public post about the company, an open letter to the CEO saying she was having trouble living on her current salary.

Talia Jane, 25, penned the letter to Yelp’s CEO and told Buzzfeed she rented an apartment 30 miles away from the company’s office but struggles to afford rent, making only $12.25 an hour.

She said, besides her rent, she has to factor in $200 a month in transportation fees.

Jane posted the letter to Medium on Friday and noted in a later update that she had been let go from the company.

“This was entirely unplanned (but I guess not completely unexpected?) but any help until I find new employment would be extremely appreciated,” Jane wrote.

She included links to her PayPal, Venmo and Square Cash accounts for donations.

On Saturday, Jeremy Stoppelman addressed the letter on his Twitter account in a series of five posts.

He continued by noting that he’s “been focused” on the high cost of living in San Francisco and has backed a group trying to bring awareness to the issue.

He also noted that he’s often spoken out about the importance of making housing more affordable.

Jane did not respond to CNNMoney’s request for comment.
