SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A man has died and six people have been taken to hospitals with injuries described as not being life-threatening after a head-on collision in South Jordan Friday night.
The crash occurred in the area of 3700 West and 9800 South, and FOX 13 News first heard reports of the crash around 8:35 p.m. 9800 South was shut down in the vicinity as crews investigated.
Police said a car with five teens inside moved over from westbound lanes into eastbound lanes and collided with an eastbound car carrying a husband and wife.
A man inside the eastbound car was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. He is so far only identified as a 56-year-old man.
The man’s wife and the five teenagers were taken to a hospital with injuries described as not being life-threatening.
Police said it is unclear what caused the 17-year-old driver to veer into oncoming traffic. FOX 13 News will have more details as they become available.
