New video shows suspect attacking officer with lawn decoration and his arrest

SALT LAKE CITY – There is new video that gives more insight into an attack on an officer with a lawn decoration that left him with a severed ear and other injuries.

The video claims to show the suspect,Leon Dane Hall, attacking an officer with a flower lawn ornament and then officers arresting Hall.

Authorities said they had to use a baton and stun gun to take Hall into custody.

Officers said the incident started when they were called about a man knocking on doors and trespassing at the Pauline Apartments near 100 S. and 300 E. earlier this week.

Authorities found Hall at the scene and said he hit an officer in the head with the iron lawn decoration when they tried to talk to him.

He severed the officer’s ear and left a large gash in his head.

Fox 13 is working to get a comment from Salt Lake City Police on the new video.

Eli Hall, a man claiming to be Leon’s brother, recently posted the video on his Facebook page.
