SALT LAKE CITY — A bill in the Utah State Legislature proposes raising the smoking age in the state from 19 to 21.

House Bill 157, co-sponsored by Rep. Kraig Powell, R-Heber, and Sen. Brian Shiozawa, R-Salt Lake City, would forbid the sale or distribution of cigarettes, tobacco products or e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.

The bill will be considered when the Utah State Legislature meets next week.
