It’s 2016 and the time to finally take control of your health. The best place to start is by scheduling your regular health checkups and screenings. Based on your age, sex, lifestyle, family history, and overall health, there are specific screenings you will want to discuss with your doctor.

Why are routine checkups and screenings important?

Regular visits with your doctor help him or her find health-related problems before they start or get too serious. The earlier something is discovered, the earlier you can receive treatment and the better your chances are of a full recovery. If you have an on-going or chronic condition, it is important to set a personalized schedule with your doctor.

What health screenings are recommended?

  • Immunizations
  • Blood pressure
  • Breast and cervical health
  • Colorectal health
  • Cholesterol
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Eye exams
  • Oral health

Depending on your sex, age, and personal and family history, you may have to receive some screenings more frequently or additional screenings all together. Even if you feel generally healthy, regular checkups are a large part of maintaining your overall health.
