Ice fishing plus more free winter fun at Winterfest

Both East Canyon State Park and Wasatch Mountain State Park are hosting a Winterfest event on Saturday Jan. 16 that offers both fun and awesome information.

So whether you are a cross-country skier, snowmobiler, snowshoer, or just want to know what in the world a snow bike is, these are the events for you.

Wasatch Mountain State Park Winterfest
Jan. 16; 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The day starts at 10 a.m. at the Wasatch Mountain Visitor Center where those attending will be given a rundown of the daily activities and what they can expect. Entrance to the Wasatch Mountain State Park and Wasatch Winterfest is absolutely FREE for the day.­­­ The schedule is as follows:

10:00 a.m. – Welcome from Kotori

10:20 a.m. –  Snowshoe Demo

10:50 a.m.  – Layering to Stay Warm w/ Midway Adventures

11:10 a.m. – X-Country Ski Demo

11:30 a.m. – Snow Bike Demo

Noon – Snowmobile Demo

12:30 p.m.  – Winter Adaptation with Athena.

So come by, enjoy some local food and learn a new sport or two. The event is FREE and those who attend are also eligible to win a door prize.

East Canyon State Park
Jan. 16; 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This event begins at 11 a.m., and boy does it kick off some fun. To go along with the more traditional activities such as skiing and snowmobiling, East Canyon State Park is also offering a frozen T-shirt contest and a snowball biathlon.

11 a.m. – X Country Skiing
Snowmobiling
Ice Fishing

Noon – Snowball Biathlon

2 p.m. – 2nd Snowball Biathlon

3 p.m. – Frozen T-Shirt Contest

Hot Chocolate will be served all day at the East Canyon Winterfest, so be sure to come grab a cup and stay warm.  The event is free, so just pay the park entry fee of $10 per-vehicle and join us. This is East Canyon’s second annual Winterfest, and with all the fun we had last year, you don’t want to miss this. You can get more information here.
