Skiing Legend and Deer Valley Director of Skiing Stein Erikson has passed away

PARK CITY, Utah – According to the Deer Valley Resort’s Facebook page Legendary skier and Deer Valley’s Director of Skiing, Stein Eriksen, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the age of 88.

Deer Valley called him the ‘father of freestyle skiing’ and an integral part of the resort family, growth, and development since its inception.

A lodge at the resort is even named for him.

Eriksen was born in Norway and according to the International Skiing Federation he won a silver in Slalom and a gold medal in Giant Slalom at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo as well as several World Championship medals from 1950 to 1954.
