Police searching for man accused of sexually assaulting woman walking home

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah - Police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was walking home from her friend's house near Valley Park.

Officers said the victim told them the suspect approached her and asked for a cigarette back on Sept. 27.

The woman told officers when she reached in her purse to grab something to defend herself, the suspect pushed her down and sexually assaulted her near 2700 W. and 5000 S.

When the man ran off, she was able to flag down someone for help.

Police are now searching for the man.

Authorities described suspect as a Caucasian man who is about 5’8” tall with a stocky build, round face and very coarse facial hair described as “scruffy."

The victim said the man had an accent she could not place and was wearing blue/gray shorts that were long and baggy and white tennis shoes.

Officers said the man had a sleeve-type tattoo on his left arm.
