SANDY, Utah – The University of Utah celebrated the grand opening of a new facility Friday in Sandy.
The University of Utah Sandy Center will cater to the university’s non-traditional students
It will give students access to smaller classes that are closer to home, and also offer classes in the evening and on weekends to help students who work and support a family.
This afternoon, the Sandy Center had its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Educators expect the new facility to serve a significant portion of the student body.
“So we figure there will be about 8,000 unique visits per semester from students who are coming to maybe take a test online in one of our labs or take one of our credit or non-credit classes in the space – or access a student service that might be available here,” said Dean of Continuing Education and Community Engagement Sandi Pershing.
The new sandy center is merging the U’s Murray and Sandy locations into one campus.
