DETROIT, Mich. — A dad, who was about to give a victim impact statement in the sentencing of the two people accused in his three-year-old daughter’s death, punched one of the defendants during a court hearing.

According to Detroit Free Press, the father, Dwayne Smith, punched Clifford Thomas in the head. They were quickly separated.

The child’s mother, Jasmine Gordon, who was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the toddler’s death, began crying and yelling “Jesus!” after the punch was thrown.

The father will not face charges for the incident.

Jamila Smith, 3, died of blunt force injuries and her death was ruled a homicide.

Both Clifford Thomas and Jasmine Gordon were sentenced to serve time behind bars.

Good for that court/those officials for not charging the father. We need more fathers to handle the violence against their children themselves. Our justice system is broken and people ❤ it because they're dumb. I guess he gave his victim impact statement.

Even if he had been charged a jury would have found him innocent. Probably would have recommended giving him a medal.

In prison Clifford Thomas is going to find that inmates are ranked based on their crimes. Bank robbers rate high on the scale and baby killers are at the bottom. Their reasoning is that babies cannot defend themselves.

The other inmates will let Mr. Thomas know their opinion of him in countless ways.
