A local store owner accused the star of the viral video of stealing from his store, “Swell-O-Phonic’s.”

The owner told WAPT the person caught in the act on his surveillance cameras looks a lot like witness Ruby Evans, who also goes by Courtney Barnes.

According to WAPT, the Jackson Police Department has a misdemeanor theft warrant out for Barnes.

Ridgeland Police said Barnes turned himself in on a Contempt of Court warrant for unpaid traffic tickets Thursday.

WAPT asked Barnes if he did steal.

Barnes said, “I’m going to plead the Fifth. My question is, has anyone else stolen anything? Did Eve steal the apple from the tree and deceive Adam?”

Others have also questioned Barnes’ account of the chase since it has differed from other witness accounts.

Barnes said, “For the people that say I wasn’t being truthful, my question to you is, were you there? Did God tell you from Heaven or through spirits? I don’t think so. Oh, it’s true.”

WAPT said Barnes is facing theft charges in at least two cities in Mississippi.
