OGDEN, Utah – A jury has found Ruben Alvarado Nava guilty on two counts including manslaughter in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Roy in 2013.

According to information from Utah State Courts, a jury returned with the verdict around midnight after deliberating Wednesday evening and found the man guilty of manslaughter, and purchase/transfer possession/use of a firearm by a restricted person. He was found not-guilty of a third count, felony discharge of a firearm.

Nava was arrested in September of 2013 during the investigation into the shooting death of 23-year-old Mario Saucedo. Police responded to an apartment in the area of 2950 West 4650 South in Roy on a call about a disturbance at a party and reports of gunfire, and later arrested the man at an apartment in Clearfield.

Sentencing for Nava has been scheduled for August 4 at 2 p.m.
