PROVO, Utah – A garbage truck caught fire Wednesday morning on I-15 in Provo.
It happened shortly after 7 on southbound I-15 near mile marker 262.
“I was traveling South bound near mile marker 262 to another accident South of here when I noticed there was a garbage truck pulled off on the side of the road that caught fire and had flames coming out of the top,” said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Kerry Ball.
Ball pulled over and notified the Provo Fire Department.
After firefighters arrived, they carefully emptied the flaming contents from the back of the truck onto the side of the road to minimize risk to the vehicle, Ball said. There they were able to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and there were no reports of injuries.
