SANDY, Utah - Two teens were killed and a third suffered minor injuries after an SUV hit their car broadside in Sandy Wednesday evening.

Authorities said the driver, 17-year-old Hunter Kelson, and passenger 16-year-old Cheyenne Bagley were killed in the accident.

They were students at Hillcrest High School.

A third passenger, a 15-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover.

Sandy Police Sgt. Dean Carriger said the crash happened near 9652 S. and 700 E. before 8 p.m.

Officers said Kelson was driving a 4-door Plymouth Neon with the 15-year-old girl in the front passenger seat and Bagley in the back seat.

Carriger said Kelson pulled out of a side street onto 700 E. when an oncoming Jeep hit them on the driver's side.

The Jeep rolled but the two people inside, a 35-year-old woman who was driving and a 16-year-old boy in the passenger seat, were not injured.

Kelson and Bagley were killed and the other 5-year-old passenger went to the hospital for minor injuries.

Police said they don't believe alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in this accident.

Officials said the teens in the Neon were wearing seat belts.

The crash is under investigation.
