SALT LAKE CITY — Police are searching for two men that led them on a chase through Salt Lake City Wednesday afternoon in a vehicle that was reported to be stolen.

Police in Salt Lake City said one of their officers spotted a red Dodge Charger that was reported to be stolen out of West Valley City, but when they tried to pull it over for a traffic stop near 700 North and Redwood Road the vehicle fled.

After a brief chase police lost sight of the vehicle, but they had observed a woman being dropped off during the chase so they went to speak with her.

“We were notified that the car may have gone behind the apartment building,” said Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Salt Lake City Police Department. “We found the car behind the apartment building, empty, and [the officer] came back here and found the possible suspect.”

Police found the woman in the area of 1300 West and 491 North, and they said she told officers she was just a passenger who got a ride and that she didn’t really know the two men. The woman was taken into custody, and the West Valley City Police Department is investigating the case.
