Power restored: Copper theft left almost 5,800 without power in Salt Lake County

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah - Power has been restored for those in West Jordan, Midvale and Taylorsville after copper theft left residents in the dark Thursday morning.

Almost 5,800 people were without power in Salt Lake County until just after 9 a.m.

Authorities said the suspect or suspects who vandalized the substation near 70th S. and 10th W. in West Jordan are lucky to be alive.

Officials are working to find the person or people responsible.
