CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah – Residents near the Point of the Mountain might find their weekend includes the sounds of live artillery fire but don’t worry, it’s just the Utah National Guard practicing its skills.

The Utah National Guard’s 3rd Field Artillery Battalion will be training at Camp Williams in Draper Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. each day.

It’s not open to the public but residents of Bluffdale, Riverton, Herriman, Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs and Lehi might be affected by the noise.

Officials said the crew and section-level training on the M109A6 Paladin Howitzers will enhance readiness for students attending field artillery training at the Regional Training Institute.
