WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Fire crews quickly put out a garbage truck engulfed in flames at the Maverik Center Tuesday.

Ken Lebrun sent Fox 13 video and said the flames were up to 30 feet in the air at one point.

Lebrun said fire crews put out the fire with a ladder truck and a water cannon.

West Valley City Fire Battalion Chief Chris Beichner said another Waste Management truck driver told this driver his truck was on fire.

The driver whose truck was on fire pulled into the largest parking lot he could find, per Waste Management policy.

Beichner said this was a natural gas truck which had tanks on the top.

The fire caused one of those tanks to leak which literally added fuel to the fire.

Fire crews haven’t confirmed what sparked the fire in the first place.
